Her extensive career spans roles as a Clinical Nurse Specialist across public and private hospitals, as well as community health. She also has substantial experience in developing curricula and teaching higher education.

Currently based in regional Victoria, Ann operates a successful private practice, where she is committed to delivering accessible, high-quality support for people living with diabetes. Her work is underpinned by a deep passion for health equity and client centred care and empowerment.

Ann serves as President of the Australian Diabetes Educators Association and contributes her expertise to numerous committees and expert advisory groups. A strong advocate for the profession, Ann is devoted to mentoring diabetes educators and championing excellence in diabetes care across all communities.

Amanda is a Registered Nurse, Midwife and Credentialled Diabetes Educator, with over 40 years in health. She runs a busy private practice in Sydney specialising in Diabetes technology and is a past president of ADEA. She works on medical advisory panels and was a previous board member of ADIPS.

Sarah Lam is the senior clinical psychologist at Bankstown Hospital Diabetes Centre and has over twenty years of experience in public and private diabetes settings. She has gained unique insights into the daily challenges of living with diabetes and how diabetes clinicians can support psychological wellbeing. Sarah regularly presents to healthcare professionals and has published articles in diabetes journals. She provides practical tips and strategies that can be integrated into routine diabetes care.

With over 14 years of experience in diabetes education and management, I'm a credentialled diabetes educator dedicated to empowering individuals to live well with diabetes through clinical care, health promotion, and education across diverse populations and healthcare settings. As a PhD candidate at University of Wollongong, my current research explores diagnosis and treatment of gestational diabetes bridging clinical practice with evidence.

Ashley Ng is a diabetes advocate, lived experience researcher and dietitian at the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation, at Monash University. Her research interests include consumer and community involvement, digital health interventions, particularly to support diabetes selfmanagement.

Associate Professor Audehm is a general practitioner who has worked for over 35 years in general practice and is experienced in managing all types of patients.

A/Prof Audehm graduated from Melbourne University in 1984 and obtained a Diploma from the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1987. He gained a Graduate Certifi cate in Clinical Research in 2005. In 2004 he was made an Honorary Research Fellow of the University of Melbourne and became an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in 2014.

A/Prof Audehm has had a long-standing interest in the management of chronic conditions in General Practice, and has instigated and supported many initiatives to systematically improve health outcomes for people with diabetes and heart disease.

Professor Jonathan Shaw is Deputy Director at Melbourn's Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. He is also an endocrinologist, Chair of the Diabetes Advisory Group to the AIHW, Vice President of the Australian Diabetes Society, and Past-President of the International Diabetes Epidemiology Group.

His awards include the IDEG Peter Bennett award (2011), the ADS Jeff Flack Diabetes Data award (2015), and the ADS Kellion Diabetes award (2018). He has authored over 600 peer-reviewed scientific papers, was included in the Thomson Reuters The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds (2014) and the Clarivate list of the world’s most Highly Cited Researchers (2017 and 2018).

Professor Lim Soo Kun is serving as a Professor of Medicine and Senior Consultant Nephrologist at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).

A graduate of 1999, Professor Lim became boardcertified as a nephrologist in 2008. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the American Society of Nephrology, signifying his exceptional contributions and expertise in the field of nephrology.

Professor Lim's clinical and research interests include chronic kidney disease (CKD), pre-dialysis CKD education, glomerulonephritis, and kidney transplantation. In addition to his clinical practice, he plays a pivotal role in numerous professional organizations. He currently serves as the President of the Malaysian Society of Nephrology; Chair of dialysis committee and board member of the National Kidney Foundation. He is also an advisory board member of the National Renal Registry and a member of the National Credentialing Committee’s Specialty Subcommittee for Nephrology. Recently, he was appointed as the Head of the Clinical Investigation Centre at UMMC.

With an extensive portfolio of publications in leading medical journals, Professor Lim has contributed significantly to advancing nephrology research. He has delivered presentations at numerous international and national conferences, sharing his expertise with peers and the medical community at large.

Fran has worked as a Registered Nurse since 1988 and has been a credentialled diabetes educator since 1994. In 2007 she started her own independent practice, Melbourne Diabetes Education & Support, based in Heidelberg Heights, and in 2023 she completed her Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner).

Fran has a special interest in diabetes technologies, including continuous glucose monitoring and advanced hybrid closed loop systems, for which she is also a certified trainer. She was awarded the Victorian CDE of the Year in 2000 after being nominated by her endocrinology colleagues. Fran enjoys individualising diabetes management and working with people and their families to find the right technologies that will best suit their needs to improve health outcomes.

Dr Gary Deed is a general practitioner with a passionate interest in promoting quality patient care of diabetes and obesity in general practice through education, development of resources including guidelines, policy development, research and strategic collaboration. He is the Chair of the Diabetes Specific interest network for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). He is the editor for the General Practice management of type 2 diabetes guideline for the RACGP and remains a member of the ADS Clinical Guidelines/Standards Advisory Committee . He is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow of Monash University and helps co-ordinates the NHMRC funded 'STAREE' Statins in Reducing Events in the Elderly trial - http://www.staree.org.au/ . Dr Elise Edwards is a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Accredited Exercise Physiologist currently working as a Senior Clinician at Gold Coast Private Hospital. She has a special interest in assisting women in their pregnancies while managing diabetes in pregnancy or GDM. Dr Elise Edwards also has extensive experience in community health, aged care and private practice. Prior to working on the Gold Coast, she has also worked in aged care and disability services in Toowoomba. Dr Elise Edwards has been a guest lecturer at SCU, Mayfield and ANU. She presented virtually at the Australasian Diabetes Congress in 2020, 2021 and face to face in 2022. Dr Elise Edwards has also been involved with a number of publications and podcasts through ADEA and ESSA. She has a passion for promoting healthy lifestyles and loves sharing her knowledge with others.

Laura Zimmerman is a trailblazer in diabetes management and innovative healthcare delivery, renowned for her commitment to patient-led care. As the Founder of Macintyre Health, she has established a reputation for transforming diabetes care in Australia. With over 14 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner specialising in Diabetes, Metabolic Disorders, and Chronic Disease Management, Laura has developed a unique model of care that leverages a multi- disciplinary approach to ensure top-tier diabetes management is accessible to all-regardless of geographic location. In her capacity as a Principal Investigator for the Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations, Laura is dedicated to advancing evidence-based practices and challenging the status quo in healthcare. Dr Giuliana Murfet, an experienced and practicing diabetes and bariatrics nurse practitioner, is an ADEA Fellow and past ADEA Board Member and President, an inaugural Bullwinkel Scholar and was named Jan Baldwin CDE of the Year in 2022. She actively advises the NDSS and Diabetes Australia as chair of both the Health Professional and the Medical Educational and Scientific Advisory Councils and is a member of the Living Evidence for Diabetes Consortium. As a casual academic and Visiting Scholar at the University of Technology Sydney's School of Public Health, her research focuses on diabetes workforce development, nurse-led and multidisciplinary models of diabetes or metabolic care, and health literacy. Giuliana authored the Capability Framework for Diabetes Care and is dedicated to innovative solutions in healthcare.

With over three decades in diabetes management, Wendy dedicated her career to understanding and improving the lives of those with diabetes. She has worked in the public sector, and more recently in private practice in a dedicated team of endocrinologists, dietitians, podiatrists, clinical psychologists, and exercise physiologists.

Recently, she became a certified lifestyle medicine practitioner, further enhancing her ability to support individuals seeking to improve their overall health and wellbeing. She has served on numerous committees for ADEA and is a casual academic at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Dr. Shannon Lin is the Diabetes Course Director at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and a Senior Lecturer. She is expanding her work globally as a diabetes education specialist for Life for a Child/Diabetes Australia, supporting healthcare professionals in under-resourced countries. Additionally, she dedicates her efforts to outreach diabetes clinics for Indigenous communities. Professionally, Shannon is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and a Credentialed Diabetes Educator with 20 years of experience. She holds the distinction of being the first advanced dietitian recognized for her expertise in Indigenous health, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, and diabetes. Her contributions to the diabetes workforce have garnered several accolades, including multiple teaching and research excellence awards at UTS and the 2023 UTS Alumni Award – Faculty Award of Excellence in Health. Her leadership and clinical excellence were also recognized when she was awarded the National Credentialed Diabetes Educator of the Year 2023. Furthermore, Shannon serves as a Board Director for the Australian Diabetes Educators Association. Linda is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Credentialled Diabetes Educator with over 7 years of experience in diabetes care. Currently at Diabetes WA, she works as a diabetes educator in the Telehealth team, providing both virtual and face-to-face services in regional areas. Linda delivers NDSS group programs and is one of two dietitians in WA trained in the OzDAFNE program for type 1 diabetes. She has played a key role in the Diabetes WA GDM Telehealth team for the past 2.5 years, contributing to content and policy updates and developing the DWA GDM app. Her dedication to her role is evident in her continuous efforts to enhance her knowledge and support her clients.

Jessica first developed her passion for supporting people living with diabetes while working as a community pharmacist in 2014. Since joining Diabetes WA, she has strived to provide person-centred care and bringing equity of access across the vast regional areas of WA. From travelling to an Aboriginal Medical Service in the Pilbara region to running group self- management education programs and health professional training events, and more recently, she has been collaborating with local services to develop innovative models of care to address staffing shortages in regional WA.
