Amanda is a registered nurse and certified midwife with over 38 years’ experience in health. She has been a credentialled diabetes educator for over 15 years, working in initially in both public and private practice. Amanda runs her a private practice in Sydney, specialising in Type 1 diabetes, pregnancy and technology. She was a past board member of ADIPS, works on MESAC, is an honorary fellow at UTS, a guest lecturer at UTS and the current president of ADEA.

Eleni has a bachelor's degree in Health Science majoring in Nutrition and a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics and has over 10 years' experience in the industry. Eleni's Greek heritage afforded a strong Mediterranean lifestyle which surrounded her with delicious food. Eleni is a strong believer in the power of food and is passionate about spreading this message to the wider community. The emphasis placed on social outings and the time-poor nature of the community sometimes make it difficult to maintain a healthy balance. However, Eleni has a thorough understanding of the needs of today's society and aims to steer away from fad diets and trends. Instead, she promotes good, wholesome eating that can be tailored to each person's needs to create sustainable nutrition choices. Eleni is involved at a community level as well. She has written articles for the ABC, and local newsletters, performed cooking demonstrations at the Paniyiri Greek Festival, and has been a guest speaker and lecturer for Diabetes and Cardiovascular groups.

Dr. Lim is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Head of the Diabetes Care Unit, University of Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Lim’s major areas of interest are cardiometabolic medicine with translational and implementation science components.

She sits on the Scientific Work Groups of the American DiabetesAssociation/European Association for the Study of Diabetes (ADA/EASD) Precision Medicine in Diabetes Initiative, the WHO Global Diabetes Compact and The Lancet Commission on Diabetes, who provide authoritative resources in tackling the global diabetes epidemic. She has published ~80 peer-reviewed articles including high-impact journals such as The Lancet, Nature, Diabetes Care, and PLoS Medicine.

Dr. Lim has received several awards including the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022 by Stanford University and the EFSD Albert Renold Fellowship. She is the Editorial Board Members of BMC Medicine and Diabetes/Metabolism Research & Reviews. She is also the Vice President of the Malaysian Osteoporosis Society and Honorary Asst Secretary of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS).

Professor Kunwarjit Sangla is a Pre-eminent staff specialist and Medical Director at Townsville University Hospital. He specialises in general medicine, endocrinology, and obstetric medicine. Professor Sangla has a research portfolio with Townsville University Hospital and James Cook University including clinical and industry-sponsored trials. He is a peer reviewer for national and international journals and has received several research grants. He has been invited as a guest speaker at national and international conferences. He won the best poster in the innovation category at the BMJ international Patient Safety and Quality Conference in 2023 and the Australian Health Roundtable best poster and best presentation in 2023. Professor Sangla has a wide clinical footprint delivering specialist services in Townsville, Burketown, Dajarra, Camooweal, Bowen, Emerald, as well as at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service Mackay, Gidgee Healing Mount Isa, and Townsville Aboriginal and Islander Health Service. In recognition of his services, he received the Royal Australian College of Physicians Rural Services Medal in 2015, Townsville Hospital and Health Service NAIDOC Week Award in 2019 and Queensland Health Award of Excellence (digitising healthcare) in 2024.

Dr Chong is a Clinical Lecturer with the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney. He is a Medical Retina Specialist at Sydney Eye Hospital where he teaches Retinal Fellows, Ophthalmology registrars and medical students. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology ( RANZCO) and a member of both the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists (ANZSRS) and the American Society of Retinal Specialists (ASRS). Dr Chong completed Ophthalmology Specialist training at Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney. Thereafter, he completed two years of Medical Retina training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and Southwest Eye Hospital, Chongqing, China. Both Fellowships were supported by prestigious scholarships from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology (RANZCO) and the Department of Education, Science and Training. Dr Chong has a long involvement in working in remote communities having volunteered in countries such as Myanmar, Fiji and Romania. In Australia, in conjunction with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), he is part of the Outback Eye Service which conducts eye clinics in Bourke, North West NSW. There, he manages complex retinal conditions such as advanced diabetic retinopathy in Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal rural communities.

Dr Daphne Gardner graduated from Oxford University (UK) [BA (Physiological Sciences), BMBCh (Oxon)] and was a clinical lecturer in Plymouth (UK) before attaining specialist accreditation in Endocrinology in Singapore. Her fellowship year was spent in the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, UK. She now serves as a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and lead clinician for Young Adults with Diabetes, and the Intensive Insulin therapy programme (including pumps and CGM) in Singapore General Hospital. She is an adjunct Associate Professor with Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Director of Education in the SingHealth-Duke Disease Centre for Diabetes. She has held 2 grants aimed at stratifying diabetes to direct personalised therapy, and currently holds a Ministry of Health (Singapore) grant in the use of flash glucose monitoring to enhance diabetes education in type 2 diabetes.

Purnima is a Senior Podiatrist and Clinic Coordinator of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Diabetes Centre High Risk Foot Service, a NADC Centre of Excellence. Her role involves overseeing the integration of care from a team of experienced Podiatrists, Nurses, Endocrinologists, Orthopaedic and Vascular Surgeons. This role also involves promoting high standards of quality and care to deliver optimal outcomes for those living with diabetes-related foot complications. Purnima has 15 years of experience, across Community and High Risk Foot settings, in both Queensland and New South Wales. She is passionate about increasing the profile of serious diabetes-related foot complications among health care professionals as well as the wider population so that those living with diabetes can be better supported and preventative strategies promoted. This passion has led to a past collaboration with the CESPN Primary Health Network as Project Officer for the Diabetes Healthy Feet Project and a current undertaking in a Public Health post graduate qualification.

Associate Professor Roy Rasalam has over 25 years experience working in clinical care and research. He trained at Monash University and has previously worked at Monash Health and Townsville University Hospital (QLD). He has an interest in public health medicine and the prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases. He is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at University of Melbourne.

Dr Gary Deed is a general practitioner with a passionate interest in promoting quality patient care of diabetes and obesity in general practice through education, development of resources including guidelines, policy development, research and strategic collaboration. He is the Chair of the Diabetes Specific interest network for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). He is the editor for the General Practice management of type 2 diabetes guideline for the RACGP and remains a member of the ADS Clinical Guidelines/Standards Advisory Committee . He is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow of Monash University and helps co-ordinates the NHMRC funded 'STAREE' Statins in Reducing Events in the Elderly trial - http://www.staree.org.au/ . He is a co-investigator for the He has published peer reviewed journal articles in diabetes and is an editor for Diabetes Therapy and adviser/editor for Endocrinology Today

Dr Elise Edwards is a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Accredited Exercise Physiologist currently working as a Senior Clinician at Gold Coast Private Hospital. She has a special interest in assisting women in their pregnancies while managing diabetes in pregnancy or GDM. Dr Elise Edwards also has extensive experience in community health, aged care and private practice. Prior to working on the Gold Coast, she has also worked in aged care and disability services in Toowoomba. Dr Elise Edwards has been a guest lecturer at SCU, Mayfield and ANU. She presented virtually at the Australasian Diabetes Congress in 2020, 2021 and face to face in 2022. Dr Elise Edwards has also been involved with a number of publications and podcasts through ADEA and ESSA. She has a passion for promoting healthy lifestyles and loves sharing her knowledge with others.

Laura Zimmerman is a trailblazer in diabetes management and innovative healthcare delivery, renowned for her commitment to patient-led care. As the Founder of Macintyre Health, she has established a reputation for transforming diabetes care in Australia. With over 14 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner specialising in Diabetes, Metabolic Disorders, and Chronic Disease Management, Laura has developed a unique model of care that leverages a multi- disciplinary approach to ensure top-tier diabetes management is accessible to all-regardless of geographic location. In her capacity as a Principal Investigator for the Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations, Laura is dedicated to advancing evidence-based practices and challenging the status quo in healthcare. Her commitment to cultural safety and fostering high-performing teams has been instrumental in driving significant improvements in diabetes care. Through her visionary leadership, Laura continues to make a profound impact on the lives of Australians managing diabetes.

Dr Giuliana Murfet, an experienced and practicing diabetes and bariatrics nurse practitioner, is an ADEA Fellow and past ADEA Board Member and President, an inaugural Bullwinkel Scholar and was named Jan Baldwin CDE of the Year in 2022. She actively advises the NDSS and Diabetes Australia as chair of both the Health Professional and the Medical Educational and Scientific Advisory Councils and is a member of the Living Evidence for Diabetes Consortium. As a casual academic and Visiting Scholar at the University of Technology Sydney's School of Public Health, her research focuses on diabetes workforce development, nurse-led and multidisciplinary models of diabetes or metabolic care, and health literacy. Giuliana authored the Capability Framework for Diabetes Care and is dedicated to innovative solutions in healthcare.

With over three decades in diabetes management, Wendy dedicated her career to understanding and improving the lives of those with diabetes. She has worked in the public sector, and more recently in private practice in a dedicated team of endocrinologists, dietitians, podiatrists, clinical psychologists, and exercise physiologists.

Recently, she became a certified lifestyle medicine practitioner, further enhancing her ability to support individuals seeking to improve their overall health and wellbeing. She has served on numerous committees for ADEA and is a casual academic at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Dr. Shannon Lin is the Diabetes Course Director at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and a Senior Lecturer. She is expanding her work globally as a diabetes education specialist for Life for a Child/Diabetes Australia, supporting healthcare professionals in under-resourced countries. Additionally, she dedicates her efforts to outreach diabetes clinics for Indigenous communities. Professionally, Shannon is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and a Credentialed Diabetes Educator with 20 years of experience. She holds the distinction of being the first advanced dietitian recognized for her expertise in Indigenous health, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, and diabetes. Her contributions to the diabetes workforce have garnered several accolades, including multiple teaching and research excellence awards at UTS and the 2023 UTS Alumni Award – Faculty Award of Excellence in Health. Her leadership and clinical excellence were also recognized when she was awarded the National Credentialed Diabetes Educator of the Year 2023. Linda is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Credentialled Diabetes Educator with over 7 years of experience in diabetes care. Currently at Diabetes WA, she works as a diabetes educator in the Telehealth team, providing both virtual and face-to-face services in regional areas. Linda delivers NDSS group programs and is one of two dietitians in WA trained in the OzDAFNE program for type 1 diabetes. She has played a key role in the Diabetes WA GDM Telehealth team for the past 2.5 years, contributing to content and policy updates and developing the DWA GDM app. Her dedication to her role is evident in her continuous efforts to enhance her knowledge and support her clients.

Jessica first developed her passion for supporting people living with diabetes while working as a community pharmacist in 2014. Since joining Diabetes WA, she has strived to provide person-centred care and bringing equity of access across the vast regional areas of WA. From travelling to an Aboriginal Medical Service in the Pilbara region to running group self- management education programs and health professional training events, and more recently, she has been collaborating with local services to develop innovative models of care to address staffing shortages in regional WA.
